about

Mahuahua is a traditional Hawaiian ceremony intended to promote growth and rebirth, ushering in a new year’s harvest. The album includes native Hawaiian musicians and elders, and was a wedding gift for my sister and bother-in-law. It also attempts to blur the line separating honest tradition and mysticism from shallow cultural branding. The cover photo is of taro fields on the island of Kauai.
