about

The cover art for Bonnechere is taken on the Bruce Trail in Ontario, where it runs along the white cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment on the west coast of Georgian Bay. Bonnechere is actually a remote Muskokan lake in the nearby Algonquin, frequented by snapping turtles and black bears.

I recorded this album in my Summerhill Ave. apartment in Montreal in the 2007-2008 winter, manually overlapping song layers with two tape players. Having just returned from a three month tour with the Winks and the Yellow Funz, I wanted to create something that was again of my home, that shielded region in Ontario and Quebec that at that time was a mix of lived and dreamed experiences.
